(BEDFORD) - It’s going to be a hot time in the Stone City this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has declared a heat advisory for most of the listening area, including Lawrence, Monroe, Martin, Greene, Owen and Daviess Counties, including the Cities of Bedford and Bloomington, between 2:00pm this afternoon and 8:00pm tonight. The NWS says hot, humid air will be coming in from the southwest.
Temps forecast in the low 90s combined with a dew point in the 70s will give us a heat index above 100 degrees today, meteorologists say.
On top of that, weather forecasts say thunderstorms will move into the area as early as 10:00am this morning, and could pick up to severe strength by late this afternoon or early this evening.
Keep tuned to WBIW and watching the WBIW Weather page for the latest severe weather information for South Central Indiana.
Update: 8/5/2008 10:16am
The National Weather Service has canceled their heat advisory for the entire affected area. Storms and other rain showers should keep temperatures down below the advisory level, however, it will still be hot and sticky today.
