McRobbie Sets 13-Member Panel To Replace Greenspan

(BLOOMINGTON) - The search for a new Indiana University Athletic Director is on, and a 13-member committee began the search in earnest officially on Friday.

IU President Michael McRobbie announced IU Vice President for Engagement Bill Stephan will be leading the search effort.

Stephan, an attorney and head of communications departments past for Clarian Health and Indiana University, agreed to lead the search committee manned by faculty, administrators, athletic department officials and alumni.

The need for a new athletic director became clear when current Director Rick Greenspan announced his resignation, effective on New Years Eve, at the end of June.

Greenspan resigned in part, due to the Kelvin Sampson controversy that sent the IU basketball coach packing, and the NCAA swimming in circles on what they perceived as Greenspan's inaction.

MaryEllen Bishop: Partner - Bose McKinney and Evans LLP, past chairwoman of IU Alumni Association.
Tom Crean: Current IU Basketball head coach, replaced Kelvin Sampson.
Bruce Jaffee: Athletics Committee faculty representative, professor of business economics and public policy.
Julia Lamber: Professor of law, Associate Dean for Clinical Education, IU School of Law.
Jim Morris: President - Pacers Sports and Entertainment, member of board of directors for IU Foundation.
Ned Pfau: President, CEO - George Pfau's Sons Co., member of board of directors for IU Foundation, former national president of IU Varsity Club.
Mary Ann Rohleder: Director of Administrative Services - Athletics Department.
Mike Smaple: Vice President - Public Affairs and Government Relations at IU.
Anthony Thompson: Asst. Director for Development - Athletics Department, former All-American Football player for IU and member College Football Hall of Fame.
Roger Thompson: Vice Provost - Enrollment Management at IU.
James Wimbush: Dean - University Graduate School, Chair - University Athletics Committee, professor of business administration.
Jerry Yeagley: Member - US Soccer Federation Hall of Fame, former IU Men's Soccer Coach.
