(BEDFORD) - A blown red light is blamed for sending a Bedford driver to the hospital.
Bedford police reports say 28-year-old Terry Homer of Grand Bay, Alabama says he wasn't familiar with the downtown area, and missed the stop light at 15th and L Streets while watching a flashing light at 15th and M, and blew through the red.
Homer clipped the rear passenger quarter of 71-year-old Charlotte Rainey of Bedford, mother of WBIW Sports Personality and Lawrence County Clerk Myron Rainey, flipping her.
Rainey had to be extracted from the vehicle and was taken to Bedford Regional Medical Center bleeding from her lower arm.
Homer was cited for disregarding an automatic signal.
Myron Rainey says the injuries were little more than scrapes across her elbow.
