(SHOALS) - A reported drunk driving accident put two parents in jail. State Police Jasper say they came to an accident on Chicken Farm Road in Martin County where they found a heavily damaged Dodge pickup planted into a tree.
In the truck they found 22-year-old Kristina Lewis of Shoals inside as well as her two young children. Lewis told the officer her husband, 28-year-old Terry Lewis, was driving during the accident and then took off on a 4-wheeler.
Lewis arrived back on the unregistered 4-wheeler and both were suspected of being intoxicated, Kristina having admitted to taking several medications.
Terry was also found to be intoxicated through a tox screen at Daviess Community Hospital.
Both were then taken to Martin County jail, Kristina for 2 counts of neglect of a dependent and 1 for public intoxication; Terry for driving while intoxicated on a controlled substance and driving an unregistered ATV on a public roadway.
