(SHOALS) - A Bedford woman was partly involved in a Martin County accident that left a Shoals man dead Saturday afternoon.
Martin County Sheriff's deputies say 43-year-old Walter Murray of Shoals was headed west on US-150 in Martin County on a Yamaha moped when he came around a corner, and crossed the center line.
At that time, a Dodge Ram Van driven by 70-year-old Harold Chambers of Norman was coming the other way and, though he hit the brakes to avoid the collision, the two vehicles collided throwing Murray, who wasn't wearing a helmet, from the motor scooter.
Murray was pronounced dead on the scene due to massive head and chest trauma.
Chambers and his passenger, 22-year-old Destiny Payne of Bedford, were uninjured, and their van suffered some damage.
