(BLOOMINGTON) - The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Bloomington Police Department teamed up and brought two men into custody for allegedly abducting a woman and raping her.
Monroe County Chief Deputy Scott Mellinger says the investigation started in Greene County, but was transferred to Monroe County where they now believe the incidents happened.
Mellinger says 40-year-old Dwayne V. Adamson and his girlfriend recently spilt, and when she met with him on Sunday, instead of exchanging property as was the plan, police say Adamson pointed an automatic rifle at her and forced her to drive to western Monroe County where he then allegedly ditched her car, tied her up, threw her in his trunk and held her for two to three days, allegedly sexually assaulting her at 2 different Monroe County locations.
The Bloomington department's Critical Incident Response Team was called in to make the arrest due to Adamson's past violent, criminal history, and took him into custody shortly after 11:00am yesterday.
A second individual, 33-year-old Jeffre Sims II, was believed to be present during the criminal activity and was arrested as well.
Both Adamson and Simms are in jail on a Class-A felony charge of Rape, and B-felonies of criminal confinement and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Mellinger says Adamson was just released last year from prison for a 1999 crime of a similar nature, which Monroe County detectives also initially investigated.
