(NEW ALBANY) - Investigators in Floyd County are looking into an accident in New Albany that left a Louisville man dead.
Officials say 25-year-old Phillip Monks, Jr. of Louisville was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed on his motorcycle on State Street in New Albany when, current reports say, he ran a red light and blasted into an SUV driven by a Michael Davis of Jeffersonville, who was turning from I-265 onto State Street.
Monks was pronounced dead at Floyd Memorial Hospital, and Davis was also treated there and released for minor injuries.
The Floyd County prosecutor's office is investigating the incident.
