(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County Sheriff’s officials are investigating an automobile accident that involved one of their own.
Police say Captain Kenny Barnes was on the IN-45/46 Bypass near Fee Lane when he crossed the centerline, clipping the rear quarter of 20-year-old Jonathan O'Neal's car, and then collided with another car driven by 21-year-old Lezlie Halbach.
Halbach and her passenger, Matt McConnell were both taken to Bloomington Hospital for injuries.
Barnes reports he was distracted by equipment in his squad car when the accident happened.
