(BEDFORD) - Area power companies are being deluged by service calls for all the locales that have been knocked off the grid by the storms.
Jackson County REMC, which services parts of Jackson, Washington, Scott, Jennings, Brown and Lawrence Counties reports their number of customers without power has dropped to 6,000, but they expect repairs to continue through Tuesday before everything is back up.
The Orange County REMC tells WBIW News they have all their main lines up, but several substations were knocked out and repairs are underway. Orleans Clerk-Treasurer Robert Henderson says several large trees were blown over and landed on houses and cars in addition to power lines.
The Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC says they have just brought back 4 linemen Friday from assisting damage recovery in Louisiana, and are trying to obtain additional crews.
Duke Energy reports the hardest hit areas for them were Bedford, Bloomington, Clarksville, Seymour, Connersville, Corydon, and Madison, and that this is probably the biggest storm, from a damage standpoint, the company has ever had to deal with.
