(BEDFORD) - A man was arrested shortly after midnight this morning after, Bedford police say, he broke into a home of a woman he was reportedly going through a split with, and allegedly battered her among other things.
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News a woman called 911 saying she may have a problem with a man trying to get in her home, and then she called back again, but hung up.
Bedford police allege 26-year-old Howard Timken, Jr. of Bedford allegedly broke through a glass sliding door into the home, got into an altercation with the woman, and grabbed the phone from her when she called 911.
When police arrived, they tried to put him in cuffs since he was reportedly being belligerent, but he took off running prompting a chase and an arrest that required force.
In the end, Timken faces charges of public intoxication, two resisting arrest counts, criminal mischief, residential entry, battery and interfering with the report of a crime.
