(BEDFORD) - The merger between Bedford’s two hospitals is no longer a done deal.
The Dunn Memorial Hospital board issued a statement last night after their meeting, saying they were calling off affiliate discussions with Bedford Regional Medical Center and their parent company, Clarian Health.
The statement says that, since the nature of the discussions was private that they could not comment further, however, the statement did also say the Lawrence County Council supported the decision unanimously.
The two hospitals were originally seeking a merger in order to eliminate redundancies, in an effort strongly supported by the medical staff of Dunn Memorial Hospital.
A memorandum of understanding was supported to be issued shortly after the merger was announced back in September, but that never happened and now, it appears, it never will.
