(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police have four people in custody on felony drug charges, including one for swallowing 40 balloons filled with heroin.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports police had investigated these four individuals for a while, conducting a series of controlled buys.
When police arrested 22-year-old Jennifer Dillon and 26-year-old Luis Fernando Cuevas-Caldera, they found Cuevas-Caldera had swallowed balloons with measured amounts of heroin just before.
Police observed Cuevas-Caldera at Bloomington Hospital hoping none of the balloons would break causing a possible lethal overdose.
The paper says, when everything passed through, police recovered 40 balloons of heroin.
Cuevas-Caldera faces felonies of possession of heroin and obstruction of justice, and Dillon faces heroin and narcotic possession.
Two other men in a similar but unrelated case were also taken in including 25-year-old Michael Favor for dealing heroin, and Randy Butcher for 3 counts of heroin dealing.
