(UNDATED) - Bedford unemployment went up another few ticks in October.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released statistics saying Lawrence County unemployment stands at 9.2%, up from 8.5% in September, and up quite a bit from the 5.4% we stood at in October of last year.
That keeps Lawrence County in the top 5 counties in the state.
However, at least we're not alone.
Every county surrounding Lawrence saw an increase with exception for Washington and Martin Counties. Washington County went down a half point to 5.8% and Martin County stayed steady at 4.9%.
Most of the high unemployment counties in the state, however, remain in the east and north.
State and national unemployment are up as well. Indiana climbed from 6.2% to 6.4%, and the US went from 6.1% to 6.5%, so that keeps Indiana below the national average.
