(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County will be adding a third school district to its ranks, but money for it will not come from property taxes.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports the Indiana Department of Education has approved a charter school district for Monroe County, which will be funded by state funds, grants and donations.
The Bloomington Project School, as it's called, will serve students between kindergarten and 7th grade for its first year, and then expand to offer 8th grade the year after. Applications will be offered in December and the board plans on deciding on a location, most likely an existing building, in January.
And, to make it even more interesting, students from anywhere in Indiana, not just Monroe County, can enroll.
