(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Police Department has made an arrest in the murder case on the south side of the Stone City.
Police have in custody 19-year-old Jeremiah L. Hancock of Mitchell, charged with both murder and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In a release, Bedford police say 57-year-old Diana Tabor, the victim, died of multiple stab wounds and her body was not found for 5 to 7 days after the incident.
Police say their investigation revealed an ATM card of Tabor's was used by Hancock, and, reportedly, Tabor confronted Hancock about it, threatening to call police. Police say their investigation then indicates Hancock allegedly killed Tabor in order to prevent her from contacting police, and then took other items from the home when he left.
Also arrested at the same time was 19-year-old Ashley Brown of Bedford, who is charged with possession of stolen property.
Both were taken to the Lawrence County jail while the investigation continues.
