(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County’s State Senate race came down to a landslide victory for incumbent Republican Brent Steele.
Heltonville Democratic challenger Matthew Colglazier put up another competent effort against the well-dug-in Steele in a race that, despite pronounced differences between the two gentlemen, didn't pour over into negativity and nastiness.
At the candidate's forum last week held at Oakland City University, both candidates pointed out their differences, made their points, staked their claims, but at the end of the night, also pointed out where they agreed, shook hands and held themselves up as an example of how campaigning can be done.
Up north in District 40, which centers on Bloomington, Democratic incumbent Vi Simpson won an easy 2-1 victory over Republican challenger Leslie Compton.
And now, with Senate Minority Leader Richard Young expected to step down from his leadership post in the next session, Simpson is being favored to take that spot.
