(MORGAN COUNTY) - In a textbook case of bad timing while stealing a vehicle, an Indianapolis man is in jail after being reportedly caught stealing a Morgan County woman’s pickup, as she was just getting home yesterday afternoon.
State Police Putnamville say 49-year-old Ellen Adams of Morgan County came home to see 32-year-old Michael Ward of Indianapolis allegedly stealing her 1989 Chevy pickup.
Adams decided to chase after her departing truck while calling police, but at the end of Mann Road and Smokey Bow Road, Ward lost control of the truck and struck a utility pole. Adams then chased the suspect on foot as police arrived, and the officer was able to take Ward into custody.
Ward was taken to Morgan Hospital for his injuries and then will be taken to Morgan County jail for a felony charge of intimidating an officer and lesser battery on an officer and resisting arrest charges.
