(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are on the prowl, at the College Mall.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports the city's police force began increased patrols over the weekend at the mall due to the potential for higher crime rates, both because of the increased shopping load for Christmas, and because harder economic times have the potential to increase criminal activity.
Police say the most common crimes at this time of year are purse snatchings and wallet thefts, although car break-ins and other crimes usually pick up as well.
