(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington South Panthers are riding high after several more bumps in high school basketball rankings.
After their shellacking of the Bedford North Lawrence Stars and the Seymour Owls, the Panthers are 2-0, and ranked by both the Associated Press and coaches poll as the best team in Indiana, and ranked number 12 in the nation by the newspaper USA Today, which also put them as the second best team in the entire Midwest, trailing only #9 Country Day High School in Detroit, Michigan.
South passed up their other major Midwest contender, the now-ranked #16 Chicago basketball powerhouse Whitney Young, whom they trailed in the first poll. Your top school, however, is Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California.
South takes on Indy Southport Friday.
The BNL Stars are at Columbus East that same day, while the Mitchell Bluejackets host Eastern Pekin.
