(FRENCH LICK) - An Indianapolis man made a trip to the French Lick Casino yesterday, and won a big trip…to the Orange County jail.
State Police Jasper say 36-year-old John VanDeVenter was located at the French Lick Resort and Casino around 2:00am yesterday morning after a Martin County judge issued a probable cause warrant to search him for a methamphetamine investigation.
When officers approached VanDeVenter, they say he took off running, but was quickly captured and, during the search, found a total of a half pound of meth between his person and his vehicle, $58,000 in cash and paraphernalia.
VanDeVenter was taken to the Orange County jail on felony charges of dealing and possessing meth, maintaining a common nuisance and money laundering, and a few other, lesser, charges.
