(WASHINGTON) - State police say four members of an extended family died when their car pulled into the path of a semi trailer at a Southern Indiana highway intersection.
State police say the car driven by 82-year-old Donald Lieb of Lawrenceville, Illinois was struck by a semi Tuesday on US-50 near Washington, about 50 miles north of Evansville.
Police say it isn't clear why the car pulled into the semi's path.
The others killed were Lieb's wife, 80-year-old Ethel Lieb, the couple's daughter, 58-year-old Evelyn Kay Grimes of Vincennes and the couple's granddaughter, 38-year-old Tracy Grimes of Vincennes.
The semi driver, a Shoals man, was treated at a hospital and released.
