(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University law students will need to update their resumes and contact information, as a historically large donation has resulted in a name change for the school.
What was, for decades, simply the Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington is now the Michael Maruer School of Law at Indiana University-Bloomington.
IU law alum Michael "Mickey" Maurer cut a check for a $35 million dollar donation to the law school, and, in return, the leadership of the school saw fit to use some of that money on new signs honoring their benefactor, and the largest donation ever made to the school.
The $35 million will primarily be used to fund scholarships, to be known as the Michael and Janie Maurer Scholarships.
Law School Dean Lauren Robel choked up in introducing Mr. Maurer and describing the work he had done to benefit IU law.
Maurer graduated from the school in 1967.
