(LINTON) - The City of Linton, Indiana has just taken the first step to getting a little larger.
The Greene County Daily World reports the Linton City Council just last night approved the annexation of sections 18 and 19 of adjacent Grant Township, just east of Linton.
The paper describes the area as the part of Grant Township east of Linton and south and west of the flood plain and reaching the nearby railroad tracks.
Currently, the city's attorney is working up a specific proposal, including the actual addresses that will be affected. The annexation will then offer full city utilities and amenities as well as creates a tax increment financing, or tif, district.
The final annexation work should be completed before long.
