(ORLEANS) - The Town of Orleans is, once again, looking to honor the veterans of their police force over the holidays.
"Project Blue Light" is a program that actually started about 20 years ago in Philadelphia, and has spread to at least the Orange County town, where people display something as simple as a single blue light in their home's window, or using blue lights in their home's holiday decorating, to honor the officers that have served, and continue to serve the community.
Orleans Clerk-Treasurer Robert Henderson Jr. says two officers have lost their life while in the service of the Orleans Police Department, not including former Police Chief Ed Moffatt who passed away in August.
