(SPRINGVILLE) - Despite cold temperatures this week, one Springville barn got rather warm Wednesday afternoon. Too warm, in fact.
Around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, Perry and Marshall Township firefighters were called to the scene of a barn fire on Phillips Lane. Denny Godsey of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department tells WBIW News the fire took about 9 men, 4 trucks and at least 5 tankers full of water to extinguish the blaze.
The owner of the barn, according to Godsey, lost a couple sheep and some farm equipment as a result of the fire, which took about 3 hours to fully extinguish.
Godsey says the toughest part of the firefight was putting out the hay in the barn.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.
