(BLOOMINGTON) - The emerald ash borer has turned up in Monroe County.
The Associated Press is reporting the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has found the beetle in the county's Polk Township, making Monroe only the third county in Southern Indiana to have the tree-destroying bug turn up.
The Indiana DNR had placed a quarantine on ash firewood from being transported from place to place because of concerns of the bug spreading into new areas.
