(SPENCER) - A farming accident has claimed the life of a rural Owen County man.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports 64-year-old Charlie Freeman of Spencer was taking a round bale of hay out to his cattle Saturday, when, apparently, his tractor slipped, slid down an embankment and ended up pinning Freeman between the front tire and a tree.
His brother Virgil, who lives with him, came out to check on him when he didn't come in for dinner, found him badly hurt and called 911.
After spending about a half hour getting Freeman out from between the tractor and tree, he was air lifted to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, where he died in the emergency room.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00am Thursday morning at Parrish and Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.
