(CLOVERDALE) - The owner of an Owen County puppy business has been ordered to close its doors by Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter for failing to pay back taxes.
A temporary restraining order was signed by a judge in the Owen County Circuit Court preventing Tammy Gilchrist, owner of Kritter Haven on Cloverdale, from continuing to operate her business since she owes almost $200,000 in outstanding taxes.
Carter's office says Gilchrist has until Wednesday to pony up, or her merchant's license would be revoked.
Gilhrist has operated under a number of names including AKA Kennel, TEKS Kennel, Puppysrus, and Affordable Pups, and is also facing a 2006 state lawsuit alleging she failed to deliver puppies, misrepresented age and heath of the animals amongst other complaints.
