(INDIANAPOLIS) - An agricultural regulatory task force commissioned in 2007 by Bedford native and Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman has finally put out their report with a list of recommendations to change Indiana ag regulation.
Among those recommendations, according to the report, are an agricultural regulatory council which should consist of the heads of all cabinet and non-cabinet agencies that handle agriculture in Indiana, a recommendation for the General Assembly to specifically define the duties of the various agencies in order to eliminate redundancies and overlapping, and also for the General Assembly to transfer the responsibility of regulating septic systems from the state Department of Health to the Department of Environmental Management, again, to eliminate redundancies.
Governor Mitch Daniels says he will support the recommendations.
