Young Men From Mitchell, Bloomington, To Join Other Hoosiers At Obama's Inauguration

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Just because it’s the biggest party in ages in our nation’s capital doesn’t mean there won’t be Hoosiers, especially from the listening area, attending.

Tomorrow, January 20th, the United States of America will inaugurate its very first African American chief executive, and officially place him in the Oval Office, and Hoosiers attending will have plenty of security to contend with.

13-year-old Luke Jakob of Mitchell, however, will be in the parade as part of the "Reach for your Dreams" anti-drug program.

Also, a 9-year-old Bloomington boy is on his way to an all-expense paid trip to Tuesday's inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama. Richard Wright won an essay contest for the honor.

The 4th-grader wrote the inauguration would teach him that there should not have been segregation and that black people and women should have always been able to vote like they can today.

Richard is one of 12 essay contest winners from across the country who won a free bus trip, hotel stay and complimentary transportation to the inauguration.

In addition to these two young Hoosiers, a number of other area residents will be traveling on their own accord to the city on the Potomac to take in their part of American history as well.
