(WASHINGTON, DC) - President Barack Obama made his annual speech to the joint session of Congress last night, and, unsurprisingly, Indiana’s congressional delegation has chimed in with their reaction.
Two of our three area congressmen, 4th District Republican Steve Buyer and 9th District Democrat Baron Hill, don't differ as much as they usually do in their reaction. Both representatives characterized President Obama's speech as being "frank" and "forthright" about the challenges America currently faces.
However, Buyer criticized the speech for being, "high on rhetoric and short on specifics," a common theme in Republican opposition during last year's campaign, while Hill stated he was pleased with Obama's stated efforts to cut the deficit, and said he will work with him to accomplish that.
8th District Democrat Brad Ellsworth has not publicized an opinion on the issue.
