(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell woman led Bedford police on a chase yesterday afternoon, after she left the Bedford police station.
Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News 20-year-old Samantha Turpin of Mitchell was at the station to talk to police about a civil issue she had questions on, and when police looked her up, found her license had been suspended, and warned her not to drive.
When she left, Parsley says she drove away in a green Chevy Cavalier, and a police cruiser followed behind her.
The officer turned on his lights at 17th and H Streets, and Turpin reportedly fled, eventually running off the road and getting stuck in the mud after missing the turn from US-50 to Limestone Run Road, and then she reportedly ran on foot.
The officer got her to stop and made the arrest, and she is now lodged in the Lawrence County jail facing a list of 13 charges, ranging from traffic citations to a felony including:
