(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man is behind bars and facing a charge of attempted voluntary manslaughter, following an incident at a local bar late Friday night.
47-year-old Anthony Banks of Bedford, was arrested after police found the knife he used to slash a person's throat at Bandana's Bar and Grill on Fifth Street.
According to the Bedford Police Department log, police and a Dunn Memorial ambulance crew were called to the bar shortly before midnight.
Banks was taken into custody without incident.
Attempted voluntary manslaughter is a class a felony, but differs from an attempted murder charge, because it provides for action taken under heat of the moment type incidents, whereas murder is premeditated.
