(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man is in custody on a charge of rape after a police standoff yesterday.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports 38-year-old Todd Sturgis of Bloomington was accused of sexually assaulting a woman Tuesday at his home, and when Monroe County deputies arrived that night to handle the matter, Sturgis refused to answer the door or phone, and eventually, reportedly told officers he had weapons inside and threatened suicide.
Finally, the Bloomington Critical Incident Response Team was called in around 2:00am Wednesday morning, and entered the home at 3:00am taking Sturgis into custody.
Sturgis faces charges of rape and possession of a handgun without a permit.
