(WASHINGTON, DC) - The bill to delay the transition to digital television has passed through Congress, but the listening area’s three congressman are of a different mind on the issue.
The DTV delay act, which passed through congress yesterday afternoon, would delay the switch to all digital TV signal to June 12th. The move was originally scheduled for February 17th.
Republican 4th District Congressman Steve Buyer, who represents Lawrence and western Monroe Counties, voted "no" saying the delay is unnecessary and costly.
9th District Democrat Baron Hill, who represents most of Monroe County along with Brown, Jackson, Washington and Orange Counties, voted "yes" along with 8th District Democrat Brad Ellsworth, who handles Martin and Greene Counties.
Hill was listed as a co-sponsor of the original bill that failed earlier in the house.
