(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University trustees have approved plans for major developments at the Bloomington and IUPUI campuses.
The main goal of the planning is providing more research space, which IU trustees say both IU-Bloomington and IUPUI fall behind their peer institutions in.
Parts of the plans for the Bloomington campus include turning N Woodlawn Avenue into more of a divided boulevard, in order to link athletic and academic areas of the campus and in order to prepare for further development north of 10th Street.
Other items include the restoration of the Jordan River and a quiet walking path next to it east of Jordan Street, and the extension of Law Lane, which runs in front of the SRSC, to connect to the northern curve of the 10th Street S-bend, creating another major east-west route through campus.
