(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County elementary schools have a new spelling champion.
Aleister Hale, a 4th grader from Lincoln Elementary School, took top honors in the 35th annual WBIW Spelling Bee with the last word which was, ironically, "omega."
Hale was followed by runner up Amberly Solari, a St. Vincent de Paul 4th grader, 2nd place went to Shelby Fletcher, a Burris Elementary 3rd grader, and from Stalker Elementary's 4th grade class, Geoffrey Livingston took 3rd place.
Hale will continue on this afternoon for the second round of the WBIW Lawrence County Spelling Bee, taking on challengers from the area's 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes.
So, C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S Aleister Hale, and good luck in Round 2!
