(MITCHELL) - The Lawrence County Republican Party has scheduled this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner for this coming Thursday, and has brought Lawrence County’s biggest Republican politician in to keynote the event.
Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman, a Bedford native, will be taking the podium at the annual event this year. The dinner is scheduled for 6:00pm Thursday at Spring Mill Park on IN-60 in Mitchell.
The Lincoln Day Dinner is the primary celebratory and fundraising event for most state and county Republican Parties, although some local and state parties, mostly in the south, have renamed the event either Reagan Day or Lincoln-Reagan Day, in honor of both past and present standard-bearers of the GOP, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.
The Democratic Party holds a similar annual event called Jefferson-Jackson day, in honor of former Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson.
