(ORLEANS) - Orleans residents have a new holiday to celebrate this week.
As of Friday, the Town of Orleans has declared this coming Thursday "Abaraham Lincoln Day," in honor of the 16th president of the union who, though he called our western neighbor of Illinois home, spent many years growing up in Southern Indiana.
Orleans Town Council President Mike Fields in his proclamation cited Lincoln's, "integrity, intelligence and commitment to the United States," amongst other positive qualities, as reasons to dedicate this Thursday, February 12th, to the gentleman lawyer from Springfield.
