(BEDFORD) - It’s only the second week of February, and South Central Indiana already has its very first flood warning.
The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a flood warning for the White River East Fork at Seymour beginning tonight and going through Thursday morning, or until the warning is cancelled.
NWS hydrologists say that Jackson, Washington and Lawrence Counties have the potential to be affected by a cresting river at this point.
Officials cite the heavy snow melt we've been experiencing lately combined with forecasted rain and thunderstorms tonight, tomorrow night and Wednesday morning, which could cause minor lowland flooding.
The National Weather Service recommends anyone in lowland areas make preparations for higher water in short order.
