(FAYETTEVILLE) - An unconfirmed tornado caused serious damage in the small, Lawrence County town of Fayetteville yesterday afternoon.
So far, we know that around 5 residents were taken to local medical centers for treatment of injuries that officials say are not life threatening.
More than 20 homes were destroyed, according to local emergency crews, 3 of which were completely leveled. One was damaged when winds picked up a bus, and threw it on top of a Fayetteville home.
The severe thunderstorm warning came down from the National Weather Service for the area yesterday just after 2:00pm, and about a half hour later, a tornado warning was added on to it.
And through Lawrence County appears to be the worst affected, we aren't alone.
WTHR-TV news in Indianapolis reports damage in multiple areas, including as near as Odon, and as far as semis being blown off the road in multiple locations along I-65 between Indy and Lake County.
