(BEDFORD) - Bedford police have two men in custody after they allegedly lifted an envelope full of cash from an elderly man.
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley says cops were called to the Buehler's Buy-Low on 5th Street in Bedford yesterday afternoon to a robbery call. When officers arrived, they spoke with a 74-year-old man that alleged a man came up to him, snatched the envelope out of his front pocket, and then took off running.
Officers would then find 25-year-old Jeffrey Smith and 34-year-old Michael Morris, both of Bedford, near the intersection of 13th and J Streets. Police detained them and recovered $720 in cash from one, and the victim identified the other as the robber.
Smith was charged as robbery, Morris was charged with criminal conversion, and both were lodged in the Lawrence County jail.
