45-year-old Steven Perkins was recently charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.
Authorities say Perkins was driving on IN-252 in Edinburgh when he crashed into the rear of a trash collection truck that was stopped on the roadway.
Mason Watson of Bedford was killed, and another Rumpke employee was seriously injured.
Test results indicate that Perkins had methadone in his system at the time of the crash.
