(INDIANAPOLIS) - A departure ceremony for a unit of 40 Indiana National Guardsmen heading for Iraq will be held Saturday at Camp Atterbury.
Indiana's Adjutant General, Major General R. Martin Umbarger, says the soldiers will depart for training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma before deployment to the Middle East.
The soldiers are scheduled to conduct aviation operations including controlling airspace in Iraq.
The unit's deployment should last no longer than one year.
