(DETROIT) - General Motors is telling workers it will shut down 13 factories for as much as nine weeks this summer, eight weeks at the pickup assembly plant in Fort Wayne.
The move also has impact for plants that supply parts to the assembly lines.
More than 200 workers are likely to be idled at the stamping plant in Indianapolis for two weeks, starting June 29th.
Cuts are also expected at parts plants in Marion and here in Bedford.
The assembly plants would have been closed for just two weeks in July for changeover to new vehicle models.
