(MONROE COUNTY) - A Spencer woman is dead after a three car wreck on the Monroe-Owen County line.
Bloomington State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil says 40-year-old Tonia Lee of Spencer was sitting on IN-46 waiting to turn left onto Sunnyside Lane when, for reasons unknown, she was plowed into from behind by a pickup driven by 56-year-old John Abrell of Terre Haute, which then pushed Lee's Mazda into the oncoming path of 29-year-old Jeremy Sherfield's Ford SUV.
Lee's passenger, 54-year-old Alice Collier, was severely injured and taken to Bloomington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Lee was treated for chest pains, cuts and bruises.
Sherfield refused treatment at the scene, and Abrell was uninjured, but cited for speed to fast to avoid a collision.
