(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man has been arrested after an investigation into his allegedly beating his 3-month-old son.
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News 19-year-old Randy Swartz Jr. of Bedford was arrested on warrants for check deception and battery causing bodily injury on a victim less than 14 years old.
Parsley says Swartz took his son to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis in April where doctors there found multiple bone fractures to his arms, legs and ribs, and a look-over by forensic pediatrician Dr. Antonette Laskey there determined the nature of his injuries were inconsistent with the story Swartz told them.
Parsley described Laskey's examination and abilities as being "sharp," and praised her for her role in the arrest.
Parsley says the child is currently in foster care in good condition now, and Swartz has been lodged in the Lawrence County jail.
Also arrested on the check deception warrant was 22-year-old Summer Swartz.
