(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured when a motorist apparently fell asleep and crossed the center line on US 50 yesterday morning.
According to Lawrence County Police Matthew Tomey was driving his 1999 Dodge pickup westbound on US 50 just east of SR 446, when he claims he fell asleep.
A second driver, Douglas Whipple was traveling west on US 50 when he says Tomey started to cross the center line.
Whipple stated he honked his horn and got his 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse as from to the right as possible but was unable to avoid a collision as Tomey's truck sideswiped his car.
Both Whipple and his passenger Sandra Whipple were transported to a local hospital, Douglas complained of pain to his upper arm and shoulder, while Sandra complained of chest pain.
Tomey was uninjured in the accident.
