(BEDFORD) - No major news yet on the Evans Limestone strike here in Bedford, however, the union is putting out additional information on where they are and what they are asking for.
Dave Luttrell, one of the union members on strike at the stone mill, told us that the difference between where they are and where they want to be, between pay, health care, and other changes they are asking for, total up to between $8,000 and $12,000 for the entire union contingent of the company's workforce.
Luttrell says that is less than what Evans lost on work stoppage on Friday alone. Additionally, Luttrell says the union has called in a federal mediator to help negotiate, and he says Evans refuses to return his calls.
Steve Evans, the company owner, remains unavailable for comment as of deadline today. The person answering the phone at the company says it's because he is working in the shop at present due to the strike.
