(LAWRENCE COUNTY) - A vehicle theft last night at on Rariden Hill Road caught one car owner completely off guard.
The driver was heading East on Rariden when his car ran out of gas.
He pulled off to the side, got out of his car, and began to walk to a nearby friend's house to borrow a gas can. When he returned to his car at around 11:00 PM, the car had vanished.
His girlfriend called the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and once they arrived they discovered the car 1000 feet away from its original spot.
The car had gone over an embankment, ran into a group of trees, and turned on its side.
The car thief was nowhere to be found.
